Residents to discuss the future of Nowy Wełnowiec

Capital Park Group is launching public consultations regarding Nowy Wełnowiec. The aim of the meetings organised by the project investor is to gather residents’ opinions, ideas and expectations, which will serve as a guideline for the further development of a modern, green and people-friendly district emerging on the post-industrial site of Wełnowiec–Józefowiec.

The first step in opening the dialogue were pre-consultations held in June during the Wełnowiec–Józefowiec Days. A specially prepared stand provided space for conversations, where residents could share their opinions and suggestions regarding the planned investment. The June pre-consultations were only the beginning of a broader process, which will continue over the coming months as part of a series of meetings with the local community.

The first open meeting with residents will take place on 1 October 2025 at 6:00 PM at the “Koszutka” Community Centre, located at 47 Grażyńskiego Street in Katowice.

The next meeting is scheduled for 8 October 2025 at 6:00 PM and will be held online, allowing participation for those unable to attend the in-person event. Further dates will be announced soon.

During the consultations, residents will have the opportunity to become familiar with the key assumptions of the project, ask questions and share their views on the future of this area.

A comprehensive vision for Nowy Wełnowiec

Nowy Wełnowiec is a complete place—a multifunctional, ecological and green district to be developed between Wojciecha Korfantego Avenue and Konduktorska Street. It will be a multigenerational, open and sustainably designed area, where car traffic will be removed from public spaces and relocated to level -1. Moving vehicular traffic entirely underground will allow maximum use of the land for recreation and leisure amid abundant greenery, while ensuring safe and convenient movement for residents, employees and visitors to the new district.

The project covers 30 hectares, with approximately 300,000 sqm of above-ground gross floor area planned. Residential development will account for the largest share. Nowy Wełnowiec will also include other functions such as gastronomy, retail, entertainment, services, as well as educational and cultural facilities.

Green and recreational areas will occupy 10 hectares, including a 4-hectare central park, public squares, plazas, flower meadows, lawns, forest zones and water features.

The Katowice investment marks another collaboration between Capital Park Group and JEMS Architekci. Previously, the two companies jointly delivered projects such as Royal Wilanów in Warsaw—a vibrant mixed-use development functioning as a lively neighbourhood hub and an integral part of the urban fabric.

Dialogue with residents

The meetings with residents are intended to collect their opinions, ideas and expectations regarding the planned development. They are also meant to create space for open discussion about the future direction of this area and to help identify priorities and values that will guide the implementation of the project.

The consultation process does not result from any formal obligation—it is an expression of Capital Park Group’s social responsibility and its commitment to creating urban spaces based on the real needs of Katowice residents.
